PSTQ: what listening level to aim for (level 7, B2)?

A target, not a promise: check the current requirement with the ministry.

Short answer : In the e-TEFAQ manual we read, the immigration points grid starts at B2 for listening (B2 = 5 points, C1 = 6, C2 = 7 for the principal applicant; below B2, 0). Level 7 (about B2) is the target we use for the Programme de sélection des travailleurs qualifiés (PSTQ), but we have not confirmed it on an official page: check with the ministry of immigration (MIFI) on quebec.ca.

What does B2 mean for listening?

In the Common European Framework (CEFR), B2 means following a fairly long talk in standard language and most news reports without much trouble. In a test that looks like radio reports and interviews, where you must catch the gist, the details and the speaker’s opinion.

Our items run from A2 to C1, mostly B1 and B2; C1 is for those aiming at the 6 points.
