TEF: what the listening test looks like (official sample)
The standard TEF, not the TEF Canada: we have not re-checked the current TEF Canada format.
Short answer : In the official TEF sample booklet (Le français des affaires, 2024), the listening test has 40 multiple-choice questions in 40 minutes, and each audio is played once. You get 5 to 10 seconds to read before and 10 to 15 seconds to answer after.
Beta. The voices are synthetic voices supplied by your device and vary from one device to another. The content was written with the help of artificial intelligence; a review by a native Québécois speaker is under way. Found a mistake? Write to [email protected] with the item id (F-tef-sample).
The four blocks of the booklet
| Questions | Documents |
|---|---|
| 1 to 4 | Conversations with drawings |
| 5 to 20 | Public announcements, answering-machine messages, street interviews (short messages) |
| 21 to 30 | Radio chronicles, interviews and reports |
| 31 to 40 | Various audio documents |
Why mention it here?
The TEFAQ was derived from the TEF, and the document types are similar: announcements, messages, interviews, reports. You can therefore work on our announcements, our phone messages and our radio reports.
This booklet describes the standard TEF. The current TEF Canada format was not re-checked for this fiche: see the organisation’s site.
