RBQ exam: failing, retaking and the waiting period
Failing the exam is not the end: here is what the RBQ provides for a retake.
Short answer: According to the RBQ, one retake is possible: it must be requested within 30 days of the failure or absence notice, with payment. If the retake is failed or missed, you must wait 4 months before applying again (in-force date to confirm).
The steps according to the RBQ
- One retake: the request is made within 30 days of the failure or absence notice, with payment.
- Fee: $105.27 per exam in 2026, including a retake; indexed every January 1, non-refundable.
- If the retake is failed or missed: a 4-month wait before you can apply again.
What is to confirm
The wait used to be 6 months. An RBQ news release of January 28, 2026 announces 4 months after a regulation was published in the Gazette officielle; the in-force date was not confirmed. Check the RBQ page before you plan.
