Permis Prêt Écoute Québec Français

TEFAQ or TCF Québec: what differs in listening?

Both prove your French for immigration; the tests are not identical.

Short answer : They are two separate exams: the TEFAQ comes from CCI Paris Île-de-France and the TCF Québec from France Éducation international. For listening, the figures we found differ (60 questions in 40 minutes for the TEFAQ per a 2018 manual; 29 questions in 25 minutes for the TCF Québec per a snippet of the official page), but both points grids we found start at B2.

How to choose?

We cannot tell you which is “easier”: we have no data on that. Look instead at which exam centres are near you, which dates are open, and which test your immigration programme accepts (see our PSTQ fiche).

In both cases the basic task is the same: an audio document, a question, options, one correct answer. See the TEFAQ format, the TCF Québec format and our practice method.
