SAAQ knowledge test: fees and pass marks (Class 5, motorcycle, heavy vehicle)

The official figures, one by one, with the SAAQ page where each was read and the date it was read. Nothing is copied from a third-party site.

Short answer: on the SAAQ pages read on 2026-11-01, the knowledge test costs $13.50 for Class 5, motorcycle and classes 1, 2 and 3. The pass mark is 75% (85% for the motorcycle-operation part of the motorcycle test). None of these pages publishes the number of questions.

Number of questions: to confirm

None of the pages above publishes the number of questions. The SAAQ brochure “Bientôt conducteur d’un véhicule lourd” (2021 edition) mentions a 32-question multiple-choice test for heavy vehicles: that is an older edition, to confirm. For Class 5 and motorcycle the number is not published.

Mention F (air brakes)

The SAAQ Class 1 page says you can register for the mention F knowledge test at the same time as the class knowledge test; otherwise you must book a separate appointment before the practical tests and “additional fees will apply” (« des frais supplémentaires s’appliqueront »). The amount, pass mark and length specific to this test are not published on that page: to confirm. (If they are published elsewhere on the SAAQ site, we did not find them.)

Another fact read on the Class 5 page

“Credit card payment is not accepted” for tests and licences (« Le paiement par carte de crédit n’est pas accepté », SAAQ page “Auto (classe 5)”, 2026-11-01).

Why this page

Different amounts and pass marks circulate on unofficial sites. This page repeats only what is written on saaq.gouv.qc.ca, with the date it was read. If the SAAQ changes a figure, the official page prevails: check it before paying.
